Your adhesive didn't suddenly go bad. Your lash room changed. Lash glue cures with moisture in the air, so the same bottle can feel perfect in April and impossible in August. Before you blame the glue, check your hygrometer. Then match your adhesive to your room.

Why humidity changes how lash glue behaves

Lash adhesive is cyanoacrylate, and it cures by reacting with moisture. When humidity is too low, it cures slowly and you're holding lashes forever. When it's too high, it can cure too fast, before you've placed the lash, or shock-polymerize and turn brittle. Both show up as poor retention. The fix is picking an adhesive built for your range and keeping your room steady.

Match your BWL adhesive to your room

• Ghosted (clear): 1 to 2 second dry, 20 to 60% humidity, 65 to 75°F. All levels and great for sensitive clients.
• GOAT: 0.5 to 1 second cure, 25 to 50% humidity (43% is ideal), 60 to 79°F. For advanced artists in drier rooms.
• BAE: 0.5 to 1 second cure, 40 to 70% humidity (55% is ideal), 60 to 79°F. For advanced artists in humid rooms.
• LOYAL: 2 second dry, 45 to 75% humidity, 64 to 79°F. All levels, and forgiving when your room runs humid.
• 67: no temperature or humidity requirements, and purple for easy visibility.

Many artists keep two adhesives on hand, one for dry winter months and one for sticky summer ones. GOAT and BAE are a common pair.

How to get the most out of any lash adhesive

• Keep a hygrometer at your station and check it before every set.
• Shake the bottle 30 to 60 seconds before you dispense.
• Put down a fresh glue dot every 15 to 20 minutes.
• Dip only 1 to 2mm at the base of the extension.
• Burp and wipe the nozzle with a lint-free wipe after each drop to prevent clogs.
• Recap tightly and store upright somewhere cool, dry and out of the sun. An opened 5ml bottle of GOAT or BAE typically lasts 4 to 6 weeks.
