Lash Glue Drying Too Fast or Too Slow? How to Troubleshoot Your Adhesive

When your lash glue suddenly sets too fast or won't set at all, the bottle usually isn't the problem. Most of the time, something in your room or your routine changed. Work through this list before you toss the adhesive.

1. Check your humidity first

Lash adhesive cures by reacting with moisture in the air, so humidity has the biggest effect on dry time.

  • Drying too fast: your room is likely above your adhesive's humidity range. Run a dehumidifier, or switch to a formula built for humid rooms like BAE (40–70% RH).
  • Drying too slow: your room is likely below your adhesive's range. Run a humidifier, or switch to a formula built for dry rooms like GOAT (25–50% RH).

Keep a hygrometer at your station so you know the number instead of guessing. Our humidity guide lists the range for every BWL adhesive.

2. Check your temperature

Every adhesive lists a working temperature range, usually somewhere between 60°F and 79°F. A room that's too cold or too warm changes how your glue behaves, even when the humidity is right.

3. Shake before every dot

Shake your bottle for 30–60 seconds before you dispense. Ingredients separate as the bottle sits, and an unshaken bottle can cure unevenly.

4. Replace your glue dot every 15–20 minutes

A glue dot starts curing the moment it hits the air. If your set started strong and slowed down halfway through, an old dot is the usual cause. Put down a fresh one every 15–20 minutes.

5. Dip less

Dip only 1–2mm at the base of the extension. Too much adhesive takes longer to cure and can make lashes stick together.

6. Look at how you store it

Recap tightly after every use and store the bottle upright in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Opened adhesive doesn't last forever. Our BAE adhesive, for example, lasts about 4–6 weeks once opened, so note the date you open each bottle.

7. Clear the nozzle

A partly clogged nozzle gives you uneven drops. Wipe the tip with a lint-free adhesive wipe after each use, and swap in a replacement nozzle cap when it won't clear.

Still not right?

If you've checked all of the above and your room has changed for good, the formula may just be wrong for your space now. Compare every BWL adhesive by humidity in our adhesive collection, or email us at hello@beyoutifulwandz.com.
