You did the set right. Clean isolation, the right adhesive, the right fan. Three weeks later she's back with clumps and gaps. Nine times out of ten, the problem happened at home. Aftercare is part of the service, and the easiest way to protect your retention is to send clients home with the right products and a simple routine.

Why clean lashes last longer
Oil, makeup, protein build-up and dead skin collect at the base of the lashes. That build-up weakens the bond, causes clumping and makes extensions stick together, which can hold dead lashes in the follicle and get in the way of new growth. Prolong Lash cleanser was formulated for exactly that: clients who show up at 1, 2 or 3 weeks with clumped lashes and early loss.
Oil-free is non-negotiable
Lash adhesive is cyanoacrylate, and oil breaks it down. Even small amounts weaken the bond before the natural shed date. Prolong is oil-free and contains no glycerin, glycerol, artificial color, ethanol, parabens or added fragrance, so clients can wash their face and lashes without trading off their set.
A simple routine to teach every client
- Shake the foam bottle well.
- Apply one pump of lash shampoo to the closed eyelid.
- Use a soft cleaning brush to work through the lashes and along the lash line until makeup and debris are gone.
- Rinse well and pat dry.
- Brush through with a clean spoolie once dry.
What to put in her aftercare kit
- Lash shampoo: Prolong Lash Cleanser or BWL Whip Foam Shampoo
- A soft brush: U Sweep cleaning brushes, sold in packs of 10
- A spoolie in a tube: lash wands that stay clean in her bag
- Oil-free liner: Prolong Oil-Free Eyeliner, so she's not reaching for an oily one
- A sleep mask: the BWL sleep mask is contoured to stay off the lashes
Turn aftercare into income
Retailing aftercare pays for itself. Clients who wash their lashes come back for fills with more lashes left, which makes your fills faster. Want your own name on the bottle? See our private label aftercare, or mix your own with the Prolong 1 L concentrate.
